Washington, D.C. Strategic alliance counsel Jeffery A. Whitney received a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science from Oglethorpe University and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During law school he was an Articles Editor for the University of Wisconsin Law Review and was a teaching assistant for the Legal Research and Writing Department. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Whitney clerked for the Honorable U.W. Clemon, Chief Justice of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Mr. Whitney’s U.S. practice is focused on civil litigation and public finance. Over the years, Mr. Whitney has obtained extensive litigation experience, representing clients in state and federal courts across the country and before various administrative agencies and arbitrators. With high-level contacts and connections at all levels of government in the U.S. and Africa, as well as close relationships with a number of influential nongovernmental organizations, Mr. Whitney helps clients recognize and capitalize on opportunities, and overcome business and political obstacles. His trips to Sub-Saharan Africa over the past ten years have enabled him to become conversant with the business and legal culture of Sub-Saharan Africa. His contacts and experience in the governmental sectors make him an especially effective lobbyist and advocate. Mr. Whitney is a member of the Alabama Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the National Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Education Plus, Inc., and is a long-time volunteer at TransAfrica Forum, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the general public on U.S. foreign policy as it affects Africa and the Diaspora in the Caribbean and Latin America. |
