Ike Onyiuke

Strategic alliance counsel Ike Onyiuke received his Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree in 1981 from the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar Association in 1982.  Upon bar admission, he took a position as legal advisor/in-house counsel for New Era Publishing Company, Ltd., Benin City, Nigeria.  He served in this capacity from October 1982 to June 1983, at which time he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).  In June 1983, he joined the law chambers of Chief G. C. M. Onyiuke in Lagos, Nigeria, as an Associate-at-Law.  The late Chief G. C. M. Onyiuke was one of Nigeria’s most respected and legendary lawyers that made it to the status of Senior Advocate of Nigeria [SAN]. 

In his position as Associate-at-Law in this highly respected firm, he concentrated on general corporate legal practice and served clients in numerous areas of business law including:  foreign investments, international commercial transactions, arbitration, insurance, banking and financial law, aviation, civil litigation and general commercial practice.  His tenure at the chambers of Chief G. C. M. Onyiuke ended in March of 1988 when he formed Ike, Onyiuke and Kou and became principal partner. 

Mr. Onyiuke has represented numerous African and foreign corporations, governmental and quasi-governmental parastatals in trans-African or intra-African legal projects.  He has canvassed most of Sub-Saharan Africa performing outstanding and/or notable transactional work for both expatriate and indigenous corporate clients.  He has operated extensively in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the United States, and is well acquainted with the major markets of Sub-Saharan Africa.  His current practice involves mostly government procurements, lobbying and interest advocacy as well as international trade law between Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the United States.

Mr. Onyiuke is an exemplary advocate who is familiar with the business and socio-cultural realities of the nations of Sub-Saharan Africa. Above all, he is well versed in the legal systems of the nations of Anglophone Sub-Saharan Africa.
